But this walking with God is difficult. To achieve it, it is essential that we acquire the habits and recollection and self possession. Let me use another illustration to further understand this point. How hard is it to walk humbly with God? It is as if I lit a candle and gave it to you to hold, and told you to take it everywhere you go and never let it be blown out. You would have to protect it, wouldn't you? You would have to move slowly, thoughtfully, and deliberately. It would require conscious living: thoughts, words and actions that spring from an awareness of who we are and what we are here for.
